Aynun Begum, PhD, M.Sc.

PROFESSOR, ONLINE STUDIES

Dr. Aynun Begum, Ph.D., M.Sc., is an Instructor of Biological Sciences at United Nursing College in Murrieta, California. Before joining UNC, she taught and conducted research in biological sciences, stem cell biology, human biology, and anatomy at internationally and nationally recognized institutions including UC Los Angeles (UCLA), UC Riverside (UCR), Western University of Health Sciences, Mt. San Jacinto College (MSJC), the Institute of National Research on Agronomique in Clermont-Ferrand, France, and The University of Tokushima, Japan, spanning over 25 years of academic and research excellence.

Dr. Begum earned her Ph.D. at The University of Tokushima, Japan, where she focused on the biology of red blood cell (RBC) deformability and its role in microcirculation. She completed postgraduate research at UCLA’s Department of Neurology, studying Alzheimer’s amyloid beta (Abeta) pathology, synaptic and memory loss in transgenic mouse models, and drug development using polyphenolic nanoparticles. As a senior postdoctoral researcher at Western University of Health Sciences, she explored stem cell research and Abeta-specific CD4-positive T cell therapy for Alzheimer’s disease. A dedicated educator, Dr. Begum provides hands-on training in neurobiology, human biology and anatomy, stem cell biology, molecular biology, microbiology, and immunology. She has delivered over 100 research presentations, authored numerous publications, and holds a patent in neurobiology of disease, Alzheimer’s research, stem cell and organoid studies, T cell therapy, nanoparticle toxicity, environmental toxins, and drug development
